BitSpeed™ Concurrency now available: new file acceleration software application allows organizations to write large files in multiple locations at the same time

Concurrency is based on the new BitSpeed™ Velocity version 2 engine, available with new speed and ease-of-use features.

Manhattan Beach, CA, May 15, 2012:   BitSpeed LLC, a California –based provider of file acceleration, data integrity and security software, today announced the worldwide availability of Concurrency, a new way of accelerating the distribution of large files.

Concurrency saves time, bandwidth and money for organizations in Media & Entertainment, Medical Imaging & Life Sciences,  Geophysical Exploration, and global enterprises when writing and moving large unstructured data. Concurrency enables the simultaneous writing of large files to more than one location for any application, such as video editing or rendering, genomics sequencing, etc.

As an example, while a 200 GB (Gigabyte) file is being created and written (for instance by Server A) to primary storage (e.g. Storage A)  on SAN or NAS or DASD, Concurrency can initiate a simultaneous write of the file to a second location, which can be on the same LAN, or across the world via WAN. Both files will be created simultaneously, SAVING the time and expense of transmitting the file after it has finished being created and written to disk.

Concurrency also enables organizations with its Chain Multi-Casting capability;  while Server A is writing to Storage A, and Concurrency is enabling the simultaneous write to Storage B, Server B can be initialing a simultaneous write to Storage C, Server C to Storage D, ad infinitum. Concurrency’s Chain Multi-Casting enables the user to write the file to dozens or hundreds of locations at the same time.

Concurrency is based on the new Velocity 2 engine.  BitSpeed’s flagship Velocity product, a leading file acceleration, data integrity and security application, has been improved in its second major release:

  • Velocity will now auto-sense and self-configure on any bandwidth,  adjusting for bandwidth availability, latency, etc. Users can now install Velocity and simply define files and destinations for transfers,  and achieve world-class speed and security of transfer
  • Addition of Watch Folder capabilities to link source and destination folders, and monitor changes under policy control for immediate or batch transfer
  • Additional checksum capabilities allow both in-flight block-by-block checksums, and also full file checksums and comparison to known checksums
  • Greatly enhanced speed transfer of small files
