Gen-X IT Celebrates its 10th Anniversary
Gen-X IT, the Specialist Networking Distributor is celebrating its 10th year of business in 2012, and would like to take this opportunity to thank all the partners, customers and suppliers that have helped the company go from strength to strength over the past 10 years.
Founded in 2002 by Kelley Stewart & Alan Gould, Gen-X IT is a leading independent distributor known for its focus on the networking arena. Starting off in July 2002 with just two employees working out of a small office, the company has expanded over the past ten years to over twenty five employees working out of 3 locations in the UK including the company’s 10,500 ft² head office in Manchester which also houses the company’s warehouse and distribution centre.

Kelley & Alan both have a wealth of experience in IT sales and over the ten years of the company’s existence have built a stable and committed team characterised by its professionalism and integrity. In fact, nearly two thirds of those employed by the company have been with Gen-X in excess of five years, and it is this stability in part that has allowed the company to succeed.
Co-Founder and Managing Director Alan Gould is a firm believer that being a successful distributor goes beyond simply offering great prices and availability of product, and that a commitment to providing the highest levels of customer service is what really sets Gen-X apart from the competition. “To survive and prosper in the difficult economic climate of the last few years says much about our commitment to service and quality” said Alan. “As part of our on-going commitment to quality we are now in the final stages of ISO9001 accreditation. This investment will further strengthen our service offering to our valued customers”.
That commitment to good service has really paid off for Gen-X, with 2011 being the company’s most successful year to date. For Alan, the two are closely linked: “For most people in our industry 2010 was one of the toughest years ever and it was certainly the most challenging year for Gen-X. However, despite the extremely difficult trading conditions, we invested in our team and our systems and 2011 has become our most successful trading year to date. It feels good to be entering our tenth year of business on such a high”.
Gen-X have recently made a further commitment to growing their official distribution division with the appointment of Ray Johnson as Channel Development Manager, who comes with a wealth of experience in the IT channel having worked for Computacenter amongst others, and the company plans to expand its sales force still further in the coming year.
Ray is enthusiastic about the future for the company: “I’m very excited to have joined the team at Gen-X when they are enjoying such success” he said. “I’m relishing the opportunity to work with the Directors to grow and further develop the close relationships we have with all our resellers. The Directors and I have plans to increase our Business Development and Account Management teams across the UK and are actively looking for new talent to join the team.” All in all, the future looks bright for Gen-X IT, and 2012 looks like it could be another good year in the life of one of the UK’s most progressive young companies.
Gen-X IT is currently looking to recruit experienced sales people with a track record of success in account management and business development roles in the IT channel. Good packages available for successful candidates. This is an opportunity to join a successful company that has experienced steady growth over the past 10 years and really values its team.
