Gen-X IT gains ISO 9001:2008 Quality Assurance Certification
Gen-X IT Ltd, the Specialist Networking Distributor, is pleased to announce that we have been awarded ISO 9001:2008 Quality Assurance Certification. This means that all our business processes have been externally audited and measured against best practise. Gen-X IT passed the audit process with flying colours, with no non-conformances found during the audit by ACS Registrars. This is testament to Gen-X IT’s history of commitment to quality and dedication to continuous improvement.
The International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) is an international standard-setting body composed of representatives from 163 different member countries. ISO certification is the only internationally-recognised standard for quality of business practice, and provides recognition that a company that has been awarded ISO Certification has achieved certain high standards in its business processes and has a commitment to continuous improvement in the future.
Two of the fundamental principles of the ISO certification are a focus on the understanding of customers’ requirements, and the continual review and improvement of everything a business does. As a company Gen-X IT has always had a belief in excellent customer service, and it was a desire to properly recognise the company’s commitment to quality that led the management team at Gen-X to start the application process over a year ago.
The fact that Gen-X IT has achieved the accreditation is thanks in no small part to the efforts of Channel Development Manager Ray Johnson, who took over management of the process when he started in late 2011 and had set achieving ISO 9001:2008 certification as one of the key aims of his first few months with the company. “We are very proud to have been awarded the ISO9001:2008 Quality Accreditation” said Ray. While we were always confident that our Quality and Business Management systems were excellent, to have a very well respected company like ACS Registrars come in and audit them was important to us.
“Leading up to the point where we were audited there was a real buzz in the business, with the whole Gen-X team keen to ensure that their department would not let the side down. As it was, we passed with flying colours (no non-conformances). The award should give all our customers, new and old, confidence that if things ever do go wrong we have the systems in place to quickly rectify it and ensure that it does not happen again.
Ray is confident that the ISO award will encourage the team at Gen-X to continuously improve their working practices moving forward, even though they have been recognised to be of a very high standard already. “The focus that our Quality Systems have within our business is now much higher following the award, and with re-registration every 12 months everyone at Gen-X is determined to drive further quality systems into our business and those who supply us.”
