MRV Fiber Driver™ Helps Business Comms Provider Deliver New IP Voice and Data Services

CHATSWORTH, CA - June 01, 2010 - MRV COMMUNICATIONS, INC., today announced that Broadview Networks has implemented the Fiber Driver^TM optical multi-service platform to increase the bandwidth on its backbone network in response to its recent surge in data traffic from several successful new services. The Fiber Driver will serve as the basis for its network expansion and 10 Gigabit (10G) Ethernet migration. MRV Communications, Inc. is a leading supplier of optical communication systems for high-speed carrier and enterprise networks.

The success of Broadview’s OfficeSuite^TM hosted IP telephony service and MPLS-based data services brought about a significant increase in its data traffic. To increase the bandwidth on its backbone network, Broadview implemented the Fiber Driver on its regional networks in Boston, New York and Philadelphia. The carrier had built a fiber optics-based SONET network in these regions and needed to simultaneously increase throughput to OC-192 speeds, while also migrating to 10G Ethernet for native transport of its new IP services.

Broadview Networks is a network-based business communications provider known for its ability to deliver complete voice and data services to its nationwide small and medium business customers. The Fiber Driver network provides Broadview with the ability to move cost-effectively to a dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) network. Broadview uses MRV’s Megavision^TM network management software to help it maintain high uptime and to quickly reconfigure its network to meet customer needs.
