Barcelona, 22nd June. SMC Networks today announced the launch of the TigerSwitchTM 10/100/1000 (SMC8028L2) - the world’s first managed 28 port Gigabit Ethernet Layer 2 switch to combine IPv6 management, Green Ethernet compatibility and a noiseless, fanless design.
Offering an aggregated bandwidth of 56Gbps, the SMC8028L2 also combines high networking performance with a comprehensive range of management and security features that make it highly scalable - and outstanding value for money.
Next generation network enabled - supporting IPv6 management, and backwards compatible with IPv4, the SMC8028L2 is ready for any future deployment of the latest Internet Protocol.
Unmatched Green credentials - support for Green Ethernet, which powers down inactive links and adjusts power consumption according to cable length, cuts power consumption by up to 50 per cent. Enhanced management and security - advanced QoS allows for flow based rate-limiting, preserving network bandwidth and providing maximum control over network resources. Enhanced security features include IEEE 802.1x, allowing user authentication based on port number, MAC address or supplicant basis. Guest VLAN capability also enables organisations to separate visitors or customers with different VLAN IDs.
