Converters and Connectivity
RAD Data Communications has a unique portfolio of converters and connectivity products, offering cost-effective solutions for cross-generation access and extending advanced services over mixed media.
Services can be delivered from remote locations to central sites cost effectively in a mixed media environment by deploying RAD’s TDM converters, miniature converters, packet switches, sharing devices and SFP transceivers.
RAD’s converters and connectivity products support access over different fiber types and light sources, E1 or T1 and serial data communications, Frame Relay and X.25 over IP, among other applications.
TDM Converters
RAD Data Communications has TDM converters, which enable conversion between E1/T1 and serial and Ethernet interfaces, in addition to conversion between G.703 64 kbps and other data communications interfaces.
The products offer access between remote sites and central sites over SDH/SONET.
The TDM converters are available as standalone units or cards for modem racks.

Miniature Converters
RAD’s miniature converter provides conversion between coax cables and twisted pairs for E1 G.703 applications. This enables standard ISDN primary rate installation over existing coax cables.
The miniature converter is lightweight and requires no AC or DC power. The product offers plug-and-play installation.

Sharing Devices
RAD’s sharing devices enable any combination of DCEs and/or DTEs to share a modem, multiplexer or computer port in a multipoint environment. The digital sharing devices are completely transparent to the system and the data and operate with sync or async equipment.

SFP Transceivers
RAD’s SFP (Small Form-factor Pluggable) transceivers are hot-swappable, input/output transceiver units for converting optical and electrical media.
The units provide pluggable interfaces according to known standards and are fully compliant with the multisource agreement specifications, making them interoperable with third-party standards-based devices. Plugged into other products, they enable an optimal combination of Capex reduction and easier network planning.
