Media Conversion

Transition Networks’ full line of feature rich media converters transparently connect one type of media, or cabling, to another - typically copper to fiber. Industrial Ethernet

Power-over-Ethernet (PoE)

Power over Ethernet (PoE) technology is especially useful for powering IP telephones, wireless LAN access points, cameras with pan tilt and zoom (PTZ), remote Ethernet switches, embedded computers, thin clients and LCDs.

All these require more power than USB offers and very often must be powered over longer runs of cable than USB permits. In addition, PoE uses only one type of connector, an 8P8C (RJ45), whereas there are four different types of USB connectors.

PoE Combines power and data on one cable - eliminating the need for additional, unnecessary power cable runs to security cameras, wireless access points, or IP phones. Network Interface Devices (NIDs)

Network Interface devices (NIDs) are an effective way of providing operational and capital savings to service providers. A NID is installed at the customer premise and provides a demarcation point between the service provider and customer’s network. Network Interface Devices allow for end-to-end Operations, Administration and Maintenance (OAM) functionality for the service provider. The basic functions, such as loopback testing and remote fault isolation, in the NID provide service providers a number of benefits, including: reduced truck rolls, fewer test sets in the field, and increased reliability. The result of this for the service provider is a reduction in OpEx and CapEx while providing a faster return on investment (ROI).

While the operational savings of NIDs can be shown with their features and capabilities for remote troubleshooting, easy installation and Service Level Agreement (SLA) monitoring to reduce SLA penalties, it is important for service providers to be aware of the additional revenue streams and services that can be achieved when using a NID at the demarcation point. NIDs have advanced features such as bandwidth allocation, Quality of Service (QoS), Virtual Local Area Network (VLAN) and other features that allow the service provider the capability to provide tiered service offerings to customers.

SFP | XFP | GBIC Optical Transceivers

SFP / XFP / GBIC Transition Networks SFP’s and XFP’s are small form factor, hot-pluggable transceivers which allow for a single piece of network equipment to be connected to a multitude of interfaces, protocols, and transmission media via the SFP/XFP port. Our Small Form Pluggables offer a cost effective and flexible means to accommodate for network modifications and growth, while still using existing network devices. Transition also supply a range of Cisco compatible tranceivers which come with a lifetime warranty.
