The Leader in Media Conversion Solutions

Transition Networks provide networking connectivity solutions that make networks perform better, faster and more reliably while helping companies leverage their existing networking infrastructure. The company’s media converters make conversion between disparate media types possible, without affecting the performance, nature or appearance of the network. Their extensive range of feature-rich media converters allow users to connect one type of media or cabling to another, typically copper to fibre. Gen-x IT are recognised by Transition as their number one partner in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Media Conversion

Transition Networks Media ConvertersTransition Networks’ full line of feature rich media converters transparently connect one type of media, or cabling, to another - typically copper to fiber. By bridging the gap between legacy copper infrastructures and fiber growth, Transition Networks’ media converters provide an economical path towards extending the distance of an existing network, extending the life of non-fiber based equipment, or extending the distance between two like devices.

Available in stand-alone, modular chassis-based, or PCI powered configurations, Transition Networks‘ media converters offer copper to fiber and fiber to fiber media conversion in the following supported protocols: Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, Power-over-Ethernet, 100/100, 10/100/1000, ATM, T1/E1, DS3/E3, POTS, RS232, RS485 and more.

With industry leading advanced features such as Auto-Negotiation, AutoCrossTM, Link Pass Through, Far End Fault, and Automatic Link Restoration - Transition’s media converters make an invisible component in the physical layer “visible” to network managers; allowing more efficient troubleshooting and less on-site maintenance. These cost and time saving features, along with a lifetime warranty and free 24x7 worldwide technical support, have made Transition’s media converters the #1 choice among industry IT professionals.

Features of Transition Networks Media Converters:

  • Allow users to connect one type of media or cabling to another, typically copper to fibre
  • Extends network capacity without affecting the performance, nature or appearance of the network
  • Provides an economical path towards extending the distance of an existing network
  • Bridges the gap between legacy copper infrastructures and fibre growth
  • Allows users to extend network distances by adding fibre only where needed
  • Enables users to add new devices without replacing costly cable
  • Means you can integrate high-bandwidth devices into the network

Industrial Ethernet

Transition Networks Industrial EthernetAs Ethernet continues to migrate from the office environment, all the way to the factory floor-so does Transition’s extended temperature and hardened industrial line of products. These products are built to operate in harsh environments, such as the warehouse, manufacturing floor and outdoor applications. Transition’s industrial products will help ease your transition to Ethernet for better control and automation, allowing you to have better management capabilities for providing a streamlined operation with extended visibility.

Transition’s extensive line of industrial Ethernet products are built to be affordable, without sacrificing quality-backed by the industry’s only hassle-free lifetime warranty.

Power-over-Ethernet (PoE)

Transition Networks PoEPower over Ethernet (PoE) technology is especially useful for powering IP telephones, wireless LAN access points, cameras with pan tilt and zoom (PTZ), remote Ethernet switches, embedded computers, thin clients and LCDs.

All these require more power than USB offers and very often must be powered over longer runs of cable than USB permits. In addition, PoE uses only one type of connector, an 8P8C (RJ45), whereas there are four different types of USB connectors.

PoE Combines power and data on one cable - eliminating the need for additional, unnecessary power cable runs to security cameras, wireless access points, or IP phones. Transition’s full line of feature rich Power-Over-Ethernet (PoE) products ease installation and power location concerns enabling your network to have the intended flexibility and scalability to expand and grow.

Network Interface Devices (NIDs)

Transition Networks NIDsNetwork Interface devices (NIDs) are an effective way of providing operational and capital savings to service providers. A NID is installed at the customer premise and provides a demarcation point between the service provider and customer’s network. Network Interface Devices allow for end-to-end Operations, Administration and Maintenance (OAM) functionality for the service provider. The basic functions, such as loopback testing and remote fault isolation, in the NID provide service providers a number of benefits, including: reduced truck rolls, fewer test sets in the field, and increased reliability. The result of this for the service provider is a reduction in OpEx and CapEx while providing a faster return on investment (ROI).

While the operational savings of NIDs can be shown with their features and capabilities for remote troubleshooting, easy installation and Service Level Agreement (SLA) monitoring to reduce SLA penalties, it is important for service providers to be aware of the additional revenue streams and services that can be achieved when using a NID at the demarcation point. NIDs have advanced features such as bandwidth allocation, Quality of Service (QoS), Virtual Local Area Network (VLAN) and other features that allow the service provider the capability to provide tiered service offerings to customers.
